A Google search for predatory lending turns up approximately 1,800 news stories a month. The recent sub-prime lending scare has consumers doubting the level of professionalism in the mortgage industry.
Because of recent events in the mortgage lending industry a group of mortgage professionals has founded the National Association of Ethical Loan Officers committed to separating skilled professionals from the fly-by-night who flow through the industry. Dedicated professionals who remain in this industry for decades have had a long term commitment to integrity and ethics. However, talks between consumers and loan officers brought to light the fact that consumers have no real way of knowing who the ethical loan officers are.
The National Association of Ethical Loan Officers is an organization that sprang from lengthy discussions between mortgage professionals and consumers. Our association is dedicated to serving consumers with meaningful information regarding member loan officers, plus we provide a system whereby members can be relied upon to pass along credible information to consumers.
As a consumer you should insist that your lender has the “E.”
As a loan officer you should make this commitment and invite the feedback.
We recognize that it takes a committed professional to open themselves up to such feedback. The fact that the loan officer is willing to do this already sets them apart from the thousands who are unwilling to do so.
Mission:
Provide useful information to the consumer as they shop for a loan professional by providing useful, relevant ratings of the loan officer.
Provide a platform and plan for loan officers to demonstrate to the public that they are committed to their profession as they strive to perform their duties ethically and with the utmost integrity.
